Wellness Committee 

Mission: To promote student, faculty, staff, and institutional community wellbeing, across the physical, emotional, academic, and social spectrums.

Goals:
  1. To promote health lifestyles for students’ future careers as thriving physicians
  2. To help destigmatize mental health issues, prevent burnout, and promote self-care
  3. To initiate and support wellness programs and activities, of an intra and extracurricular nature
  4. To model current and future endeavors around feedback from ongoing community needs assessments
  5. To offer a plethora of resources tailored for individual issues, but applicable to all members of the community, based on situational realities of each person.
Membership: This committee shall consist of one lead and 6 members, evenly split between OMS-I and OMS-II classes. The current Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator shall serve as the advisor.

Health Advocate

Touro University provides a 24/7 Student Assistance Program: Health Advocate - Up to three free sessions with licensed provider and referrals for subsequent care, along with resource connections for a variety of school, life, and personal issues.

  • 24/7 Crisis Intervention Services
  • Licensed professional counselors available to provide up to three free sessions
  • Referrals for long term mental health treatment
  • Assistance with connecting to resources for a variety of school/life issues such as, but not limited to housing, financial, legal, elder care, and child care
